Membership Programmes & Activities

I. Public Awareness and Social Issues (PASI):
This is an open forum where various issues relating to violence and injustice towards women and children and environmental issues are discussed and necessary awareness programmes or workshops as follow up actions are initiated and implemented.

Under this, various awareness programmes were conducted on
1. Communal Harmony
2. AIDS Awareness
3. Inter Religious Peace Prayer
4. Earthquake Relief
5. Signature Campaigns
6. Violence against women and children

II Spiritual Emphasis:
Once a month discussions are held to cater to the spiritual needs of members on topics like "Faith Driven Action". Inter-faith discussions to understand the teachings of Christianity, Hinduism and Islam and studying the leadership of women in the Scriptures through the book "Breaking of her Dawn".

'Y' Deepa
'Y' Deepa is the Junior Membership of the YWCA. The children meet every Saturday in Fort and in Byculla for a time of different activities, educational games and fun filled workshop.

SAVLI (Street Children Project):
Education is imparted daily to a group of street children and nutritious meal is also provided. Medical checkup was conducted. Agarbatti, candle, paper bags, envelopes, greeting cards and Diya decoration making classes were held. Children made candles for the exhibitions that were held in Sachivalaya Gymkhana and in Women's Graduate Union.

Creative Classes:
Organized at Andheri, Fort, Byculla and Belapur. The courses are Fabric painting, glass painting, nib painting, greeting card making, pot painting and calligraphy.

Extension Classes:
Bharatnatyam, Aerobics and Sale for Fund Raising Karate.
